SUMMER ACTIVITIES FOR GIRLS/BOYS FROM THE TOWN

The registration period for summer activities for girls/boys from the town is open.

There will be two modes:
• Recreational-educational activities: from 3 to 10 years.
• Sports activities: from 6 to 14 years old.

Recipients: girls/boys registered in this municipality who are between 3-14 years old*.
Normal hours: Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Extended hours: Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 14:00.

Place: public school and municipal sports pavilion.

Prices :
• Normal hours: 15 euros/month.
• Extended hours: 25 euros/month.

Period: June 1-24, 2022.

Registration: Department of social services of the town hall.

*with three years only girls/boys who were schooled in C.P.I. in the 2021/22 school year will be admitted.

Concello de Catoira announces the cancellation of the Romaría Vikinga

The local government of Catoira informed this morning about the decision to cancel the Romaría Vikinga 2020.

Due to the regulations issued by the Xunta de Galicia, which generate great uncertainty regarding the possibility of celebrating, from July 1, parties, festivals and other popular events, such as what is organized every year in this municipality of Catoira on the occasion of the Romaría Vikinga, the Government of Catoira decided to cancel the celebration scheduled for the first week of August. The organization and programming of an event of this nature, in which thousands of people participate, must be carried out sufficiently in advance with the minimum and required security and preventive measures necessary to face the health crisis caused by COVID-19, so the logical and sensible thing is to suspend this year the celebration of the aforementioned Romaría Vikinga, a decision that the Municipal Government takes for the mentioned reasons and in the exercise of an enforceable sense of responsibility. On the other hand, Catoira Council lacks the financial, material and personal resources necessary to enforce the regulations that could have been derived from a future protocol of action for this type of activity with a large attendance of people.

Since this year marked the 60th anniversary of the festival, and in order to offer symbolic programming to the local public, the Government is working on the organization of some small events, with very limited capacity.

The decisions made have already been communicated to the other political parties of the Corporation. The Popular Party showed its agreement and support for these measures.

VIKING DINNER

Due to the high demand registered of Viking dinner tickets, the capacity has been increased by 100 people. On Monday, July 29 from 10:00 a.m., they can be purchased at the Public Library. Until Wednesday, July 31, the tickets can only be acquired by people registered in Catoira and a maximum of two tickets per person.

REGISTRATION FOR THE VIKING LANDING

The registration period for crew members on the ships participating in the Viking Landing is opened on the 3rd of July. Forms are available in the virtual office. They must be submitted to the official Register by July 24th, attaching a copy of the DNI, either in person or through the electronic site.

MARKET

The period for applying for positions in the Romaría Vikinga market opens on Wednesday, July 3. Full rules and forms can be downloaded in the virtual office. The deadline is by July 29th, 2019.

The Tourist Office opens to the public

The Tourist Office of Catoira opened on May 14th. It is located at the entrance to the fort’s enclosure, at the Centro de Activación Cultural Torres de Oeste (CACTO).

Almost 170 people from various regions and nationalities (England, Belgium, France, Holland, Argentina …) have already visited the office since its opening, which is a very positive assessment.

The office is part of the network Turismo Rías Baixas.

Olympic medalists Saul Craviotto and Maialen Chourraut confirm their presence at the Canoeing Congress of Catoira

The Seventh International Congress of coaches in calm waters of Catoira managed to surpass 200 registrations, calculating the organization that the total number will be around 250 participants.

The event, which takes place between October 25 and 28, will be attended by the Olympic medalists Maialen Chourraut and Saúl Craviotto. It also highlights the participation of Jean-Michel Prono, president of the ICF Canoe Slalom Committee, which will focus its intervention on the technical evolution and video arbitration system.

Those interested in attending can obtain more information, consult the full program of reports and make their registration on the web www.congresocatoira.es. This was done by more than 200 athletes from 15 countries, including Sweden, Finland, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Palestine, India and Mexico.

Application deadline for participating in the Viking Landing is now open

 

The application deadline for participating as crew on the Viking ships was opened on Monday, July 2, regarding the 58th edition of the Romaría Vikinga.

– REQUIREMENTS: Being of legal age (+18) and accepting the rules established by the General direction of merchant marine of the Ministry of Development (Dirección  General de la  Marina Mercante del Ministerio de Fomento)

– APPLICATION FORM: At the Culture department of the town Council (Tel. +34 986546014) or through the virtual office (the application form can be downloaded at the site (www.catoira.gal>virtual office).

– REQUIRED DOCUMENTS: A copy of the ID card and the duly filled application form.

– DEADLINE: From July 2 to July 24, 2018.

The places will be filled by order of registration. Legal residents of Catoira –prior to July 2 2018- and participants of previous editions will take precedence over other applicants.

 

The deadline for purchasing the tickets to the Viking Dinner is now open

The deadline for purchasing the tickets to the Viking Dinner which takes place on Saturday, August 4 in the area of Torres de Oeste at 21:30 hours, was opened on Monday, July 2.

Costs per ticket are 20Euros for adults and above the age of 14, being 12Euros for people under the age of 14. Tickets can be purchased at the Municipal Public Library (Tel. +34 986546901/ bpm.catoira@gmail.com) until July 27 2018. The menu consists of mussels, octopus, steak, dessert and drink. Attendants must be dressed in Viking/medieval costumes.

Participants cannot have access to the venue of the dinner with weapons and drinks and they must respect the facilities, staff and the other diners.
